Pinterestcenter_img Twitter Facebook Tumblr The community is invited to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new skatepark and skatepath project at Ponderosa Park on Thursday, September 12 at 5:30pm. The event will be located in the park’s southeast corner at 15th and Wilson and hosted by Bend Park & Recreation District and project partner, PUSH (Providing Urban Skate Habitats). The project is a result of the collaborative efforts of PUSH and Bend Park & Recreation District. Featuring an approximately 8,000 square foot main park and 4,000 square foot skatepath, the project’s total construction costs are estimated at $360,000. BPRD has budgeted $320,000 for construction and an additional $18,500 for planning. PUSH has contributed the remaining $40,000 for construction through cash and in-kind donations through a community fundraising effort. The group’s contributions allowed for additional skatepark features and amenities.Anticipated to be open to the public in November, the skatepark will offer street and transition features including:• Half-pipe section • Multiple quarter pipe sections • Two sets of stairs • A variety of wedges, hips and ledges • Grind rails • Radius wave and pump bumps The final design was based on public input, site opportunities and constraints and budget.
