Topalovic Added to Runnin’ Ute Roster

first_img Robert Lovell FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailSALT LAKE CITY – The Utah men’s basketball team added Novak Topalovic to the 2018-19 roster, Runnin’ Utes head coach Larry Krystkowiak announced on Tuesday. Topalovic, a 7-0 forward/center, will make the move to the U as a graduate transfer, following a three-year career at Idaho State.“We are thrilled to have Novak join our program,” said Krystkowiak. “He is a very driven and hard-working young man, who will bring some experience and maturity to our front-court. He completes what we believe to be, a fantastic recruiting class. We look forward to him and the other additions joining us this summer.”Topalovic is coming off a 2017-18 campaign where started in all 30 games for the Bengals, averaging 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per contest. He ranked seventh in the Big Sky Conference with his 6.8 boards, while also ranking among the league’s best in field goal percentage (11th, .528) and blocked shots (7th, 1.1).As a sophomore at ISU, Topalovic averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while notching four double-doubles on the season and shooting a team-best .659 field goal percentage during Big Sky play.Topalovic, who was born in Pljevlja, Montenegro, and now hails from Nis, Serbia, played high school ball in Serbia for two years before making the move to the States, where he played for another two years and eventually graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School (Calif.). He is the son of Branko and Zorica Topalovic and has one sister, Kristina.
