Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative has restored service throughout most of county

first_imgSubmitted to Sumner Newscow — Sumner-Cowley Electric Cooperative reports that service has been restored throughout the majority of its service area.  This morning brought reports of isolated outages in the area of the Kansas Star Casino. These outages have been addressed by our crews and power has been restored.“We are still dealing with downed and damaged poles across our service area,” said Jared McIntire, Director of Member Services at Sumner-Cowley. “Many of these poles have been tied-up with rope, providing temporary support until crews can properly replace the broken or damaged poles.”As expected, these winter storms present many hazards for the linemen who are charged with the duty of restoring power. “Muddy terrain from the near two inches of rainfall forced us to use a bulldozer to drag equipment to location in some cases,” said McIntire. “Combine that with the icy roadways, power lines and trees and our line crews were faced with quite a task. Despite these hurdles, our linemen worked tirelessly, night and day, to get our members the electricity they expect.”Sumner-Cowley urges its members to be aware of and exercise great caution around hazards like damaged poles, as well as downed and low power lines.“Our goal is always to provide safe and reliable electricity to our members,” said McIntire. “We do everything in our power to restore electricity to our members and we appreciate the continued patience shown by our membership during this storm.”Please contact the Sumner-Cowley office at 888-326-3356 to report any outages.Follow us on Twitter.
