The Moose meets Ronald Koeman Then it was time to talk to (or stalk! – Ed) some players. I had a chat with both Jack Cork and Ryan Bertrand, before catching up with Ray Winstone in the BM6 lounge. It’s the international break now so this weekend I will swap the Premier League for League Two Stevenage.Hopefully the boardroom awaits… Yum! 7 The big man was good enough to bring me some chips, and some apple crumble and custard. If I’m being picky (why change the habit of a lifetime? – Ed), the custard could have been a touch hotter, but it’s probably being churlish to complain. (Yes, it is free, after all – Ed).Eagle-eyed readers might spot that it’s not actually Ray Winstone. In fact, it’s my mate Trevor, who goes around telling people he’s Britain’s best Ray Winstone look-a-like. Next time you see him, ask him for the odds for the next scorer. He loves that…! 7 It’s that time of the week again when Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams brings you the latest instalment of his Premier League diary, a weekly tale of personalties, points and pies…I think I need to take a month off from watching West Ham. After three defeats in as many weeks, not that it’s my fault, I’m beginning to think I’m a bad luck charm. (Maybe they’ll keep Big Sam and sack you instead! – Ed).Having said all that, the day started so well. Trevor Francis and Chris Kamara were in the press room – cue my very loud “unbelievable Jeff” Kammy impersonation. (Well, it’s certainly unbelievable he thinks it’s an impression of Kamara! – Ed). 7 7 7 Never one to miss an opportunity to have my picture taken with a terrific player from the past, I grabbed a word with Saints boss Ronald Koeman (see top of page). Luckily my own personal photographer was on hand to capture the shot. What a role that would be, eh? Imagine being my personal photographer? (Better than being your personal food shopper, I suppose! – Ed).So far, so good. But then the match started.West Ham produced an awful display, which is perhaps being slightly unfair on Southampton, who were terrific, but I’m never a great fan of praising teams that beat mine. (You must be getting used to it by now! – Ed)Having pestered half the Saints team for their reaction after the game, I mooched over to England goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who’s recently swapped Ross County firing shots at him to watching his side beat West Ham. Not sure which was the more taxing game?! No snide remarks, thank you. (Too easy – Ed) 7 7 To complete my miserable afternoon, I was then confronted by the sort of sight that haunts my dreams – a closed burger bar! So not even a bag of chips to console me in my hour of need.
